Binjai is a city that is located in the Province of North Sumatera, Indonesia. Binjai City is located in the North of the capital city of the Province of North Sumatera, Medan. It is a prefecture region in the Province of North Sumatera. Binjai City is a developing city by the program from the Indonesian government along with the other cities such as like Medan and Deli Serdang. Binjai City is an important city since it was connected by the important road in Sumatera, Trans Sumatera Road in the early 2000’s that made this city connected to the other cities such as like Aceh, Medan, and many more. Besides the importance in the transportation, Binjai City is also famous by the Rambutan fruit. Rambutan fruit from Binjai City is the number one Rambutan fruit in Indonesia because it tastes sweet.

In the past, Binjai City was ruled by two kingdoms that had the same territory in Binjai City; those kingdoms were Kasultanan Deli and Langkat Kingdom. Binjai City was built and the traditional ceremony of the building city was under the Binjai tree that was why this city is called by Binjai City, because the main ceremony of the traditional culture of was done under the Binjai tree. Until now the Binjai tree is the symbol of the Binjai City.

Since Binjai City is located in the north Sumatera Island, the culture in there is not far from the north Sumatera culture, those traditional cultures from Binjai City are like dances, storytelling, song, and other culture that is the legacy of their ancestors. There is no air port in the Binjai City, because the air port is near in the next big city that is Polonia air port that is located in Medan, North Sumatera. The distance is not too far, it is about 50 Km from the air port in Medan to the Binjai City.
