Madiun is a city located in the Province of East Java, Indonesia. The location of Madiun is in the middle island of the Province of East Java, Indonesia. This city is located between two big cities in the Province of East Java and in the Province of Central Java; those are Surabaya, the capital city of the Province of East Java and Surakarta, the city located in the Province of Central Java. Madiun is the third of the biggest cities in the Province of East Java. Madiun is famous by the train industry of Indonesia, which is located in Madiun city.
Historically, Madiun city was the territory of Mataram kingdom in the early of 16th century to the split of Mataram kingdom in the year 1755 by the Giyanti agreement, and Madiun was the city under the territory of Yogyakarta kingdom. Until the Independence era of Indonesia, Yogyakarta claimed integration with other Yogyakarta territory with the Republic of Indonesia. Madiun was an important city in the past, because of the location was strategic to do trading and transportation from Kediri and the other cities in East Java.
